ENTORNO Lot 2010 Vino de Mesa Vina Eizaga
Rioja Spain
This de-classified Tempranillo Rioja (from 2010 vintage) is a fabulous little bargain. Unlike so many of the terribly young, purple 'maceration carbonique' wines of the region, this is a lovely, soft drinking wine with plenty of juice.

2011 VERMENTINO Domaine les Yeuses
IGP Oc Languedoc-Roussillon France
Vermentino from the French Mediterranean coast with citrus and dusty minerals, in this vintage with extra ripeness and rounded feel. Very sophisticated wine at its price level, and better by miles than anything we have found in Italy (where this grape originates) at up to twice the price.

2011 SAUVIGNON BLANC Domaine de Valensac
IGP Oc Languedoc-Roussillon France
Fantastically good value Sauvignon. Fresh green pepper flavours with a hint of the new world about it, this is as good as many of the Marlborough wines at twice the price.

2010 PINOT GRIGIO Vallagarina Cantina Valdadige
Valdadige Veneto Italy
Good basic Pinot Grigio with bright fruit and refreshing acidity. Does the job admirably for easy quaffing and light lunches. A great example.

2007 MARIUS ALMANSA Reserva Bodegas Piqueras
Almansa Spain
One of our best selling and longest standing wines, Marius is a blend of Tempranillo, Monastrell, Garnacha and Syrah, which is aged a year in wood, and 10 months in bottle (so it qualifies as a Reserva) and tastes more like Rioja than many of the modern 'sin-Crianza' wines from Rioja.

2010 TERRA D'ALTER TINTO Terras d'Alter
Alentejo Portugal
Made from Aragones (80%) and a mix of other local grapes depending on the vintage. Peter Bright creates his perfect blend according to the conditions of the harvest. This is a juicy supper in the kitchen red with a satisfyingly dry finish and depth of flavour. Loads of black berry fruit but with lovely clarity.

PROSECCO TREVISO 'Spago' Brut Il Follo
Italy
The lightest form of Prosecco; very lightly sparkling (frizzante), dry and refreshing and very easy to drink. Spago refers to the piece of string which is tied over the driven cork.

2008 LEA & SANDEMAN Bordeaux
Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur Bordeaux France
Another fabulous vintage of our now well known and much loved Lea & Sandeman Bordeaux, which offers such great value. This is not a generic Bordeaux blend, but from a single property bought by two young 'negociants' we have worked with for some years. Deep fruit, bright tannins and fresh acidity.

2008 BREECHENS BAROSSA Red Maverick
Barossa Valley South Australia Australia
Predominantly Syrah, with small amounts of Grenache and Mouvedre from Maverick's vineyards across the Barossa and Eden districts. This is beautifully textured, with an intensity of ripe, juicy black berry and spicy fruit, and a balanced, long, elegant finish.

2010 SAUVIGNON DE TOURAINE Domaine Joël Delaunay
Touraine Loire France
Delaunay's own Domaine grown Sauvignon de Touraine offers fantastic value, given its expressive Sauvignon fruit, more akin to a lighter styled Sancerre than the green and grassy Touraine wines.

2010 LE PETIT DIABLE ROSÉ Côtes de Provence Sainte Victoire Domaine des Diables
Provence France
One could say that this Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault blend makes for a devilishly good rosé, but that might be construed as being trite. Pale salmon pink, fresh peach fruit on the nose, and aromatic red fruits on the palate, this is a lovely wine for drinking throughout the summer and especially with grilled and even spicy dishes.
