Southern Rhône
There are famously 13 grape varieties that can vinted into the Châteauneuf-du-Pape blend and, whilst using all 13 is unusual, it does illustrate the broad palate that Southern Rhône vignerons have to potentially play with. Chief amongst them is Grenache which will form the major part of any cuvée in this end of the world, and most of the rest will usually be Syrah, but then a whole host of other varieties may be employed to nuance the blend.
