2015 Bordeaux – Pontet Canet

by Charles Lea

Just as we were thinking that the big names would all wait until after Vinexpo Hong Kong to release, along comes Alfred Tesseron with Château Pontet Canet at £795, one of the real big beasts, and a wine with universally high scores across the board – 97 – 98/100 James Suckling, 94 – 96/100 Neal Maramphoratin, 17 Jancis Robinson, 94 Tim Atkin etc. etc.

This is exciting wine, elegant and pure, a lithe ‘realness’ to it. You can really sense the care that has gone into making it, a very distinctive 2015 – and looking at the trading price of recent good vintages (the 2010 is nearly double this at more than £1500, £900 for the 2005) this seems fairly priced.

There has only been a tiny amount of this released, and last years buyers will take priority. As ever you can read more news on our blog, and you can find all of the #Bdx15 releases on Recent Releases page.

Stocks of Pontet Canet are very limited, but please email us or call if you are interested in an allocation.
