Alicante Bouschet

A 19th Century crossing of Petit Bouschet and Grenache created by Henri Bouschet who had little, if any, connection with Alicante. One of the few grape varieties to have red flesh. More widely planted than you might imagine although usually lost in a blend. Known in Spain as Garnacha Tintorera.
