Lea & Sandeman review
Deep colour, like a very old Tokaji with a touch of ruby; cloudy. Lovely, immediately likable nose, complex but not overpowering, a touch of burnt honey sweetness, with a hint of the sour sweet aroma of wheat beer. The palate is quite a surprise, being much more restrained than you expect but with a lovely texture - doughy and round. The joy is in the finish -soft and malty, with hints of raisin bagels. Very long. Possibly the nearest in style to English ale. Easy to drink on its own, but it has the substance to deal with food.
Birrificio Bruton is a micro-brewery located just outside of Lucca on the banks of the River Serchio. Created and owned by Agostino Lenci, of Fattoria di Magliano, these are fully flavoured Tuscan beers brewed by a Master Brewer with food very much in mind. Bottled in 75cl they are perfect for two people. They are unfiltered and refermented in the bottle, and therefore naturally cloudy.
