2010 TERRA D'ALTER TINTO Terras d'Alter
Alentejo Portugal
Made from Aragones (80%) and a mix of other local grapes depending on the vintage. Peter Bright creates his perfect blend according to the conditions of the harvest. This is a juicy supper in the kitchen red with a satisfyingly dry finish and depth of flavour. Loads of black berry fruit but with lovely clarity.

2009 ARAGONEZ Terras d'Alter
Alentejo Portugal
This rich and intesely fruity Aragonez is blended with a small (3%) proportion of Viognier, which gives a subtle aromatic note on the finish. Matured ten months in American oak the tannins are soft and sweet giving a long spicy savoury finish. Great value.

2010 ALFROCHEIRO Terras d'Alter
Alentejo Portugal
Alforcheiro is a widely planted variety which gives remarkably similar results to Pinot Noir, in a dense almost New World style. Made with twenty per cent whole bunch fruit in the ferment, the wine spends three months in second and third year oak barrels. Packed with sweet ripe fruit and soft, spicy tannins this is fabulous value.

2008 DRINK ME Douro Red Niepoort
Douro Portugal
Dirk Niepoort's very easy drinking red is made in a modern style which still reflects the Douro heritage, but without any of the rusticity which blights so many wines from the region

2008 OUTEIRO Terras d'Alter
Alentejo Portugal
'Outeiro' means saddle of a hill, which gives some indication of what the Boavista vineyard, planted with Syrah and Petit Verdot, is like. These soils are relatively austere, made up of limestone and gravel, giving relatively fresh flavoured fruit. With plenty of colour this is both savoury and rich without being overpowering. In fact even quite classy.
