Alberto Longo
Founded by Alberto Longo, a consultant for KPMG, this thirty five hectare estate is in Lucera, Apulia, and only released their first wines onto the market in 2005. Concentrating mainly on the indigenous varietals, Nero di Troia, Negromarao and Montepulciano, the wines have rapidly gained recognition as being the best of the region. The wines are made by oenologist Graziana Grassini, a pupil of Giaccomo Tachis, and well known to us for her tremendous efforts at Fattoria di Magliano in Tuscany. Her signature of expressive fruit, allowing the 'terroir' to show through, is evident in all of these wines, and while they have the ripeness of wines from the south, they are all marked by crisp and fresh acidity.

Puglia Italy
This young Nero di Troia is packed with bright crunchy and juicy fruit, making it perfect for drinking chilled over the summer with grilled and barbequed foods, or simply on its own.
Puglia Italy
A beautifully focused wine made by Graziana Grazzini, winemaker at Magliano and now also Sassicaia. Most Falanghina from Puglia suffers from being too heavy and alcoholic, but not this wine which is fresh and mineral with an interesting hint of tobacco on the fruit. Almost Viognier like.
Puglia Italy
Beautifully made Negroamaro, packed with sweet and rich deep fruit, lovely texture and fresh acidity. More like a Pinot Noir than Negroamaro. This is wonderful.
Puglia Italy
Alberto Longo's flagship wine is made entirely of Nero di Troia, and is packed with ripe licorice fruit and crisp, spicy tannins. The only wine at the estate to spend any time at all in oak (nine months in French 'barriques'). Put this alongside any £20 bottle of claret and see how it performs.
