Arnaldo-Caprai
The Caprai winery and vineyards lie on the hillside below the Umbrian hilltop town of Montefalco. Founded in 1971 by Arnaldo-Caprai Caprai, and now in the hands of his son Marco, the estate has become the leading producer of Sagrantino wines in the region. Sagrantino shows no resemblance to any of Italy's other grape varieties, and is almost exclusive to the region of Montefalco - it is thick-skinned, small bunched and small-berried, but big in every other way: colour, tannins, acids, extracts, and sugars.

Umbria Italy
Blend of Sangiovese with Merlot and Canaiolo. Lovely juice with crisp fruit and some sweet notes. A brilliant pasta wine.
Umbria Italy
Blend of predominantly Grechetto with some Trebbiano. Light, fresh and crisp with a hint of sweet fruit mid palate this is a very attractive fresh and easy drinking wine.
Montefalco Umbria Italy
Arnaldo Caprai's Grechetto is back on top form with the 2010 vintage. Fresh and fruity with a lovely, long, lively mineral finish, this one again qualifies as the 'Chablis' of Italy. A fabulous easy drinking Italian white with bags of class and style.
Montefalco Umbria Italy
A blend of Sangiovese with around 20% Sagrantino, partly aged in third year barriques and about 60% in large Slovenian oak casks. Bright and deep ruby red with cherry and violet on the nose, it is rich and velvety with crisp, tight tannins giving great length.
Montefalco Umbria Italy
As challenging as this might appear for all its precise and fine tannins the 2006 Collepiano is packed with glossy fruit which makes it really quite drinkable even at this youthful stage. Ideally one would cellar this for at least three years, and up to fifteen, but with plenty of air in a decanter and the right food to accompany, this is stunning.
Montefalco Umbria Italy
First produced in 1993 as a celebration of the estate's jubilee, the '25 Anni' is a selection of the estate's best Sagrantino. Aged for 24 months in new barrels, it is a hugely impressive wine, packed with rich-berry fruit and beautifully integrated oak, and powerfully dense with very lovely tannins. A wine that will age magnificently over the next two decades
Montefalco Umbria Italy
Rich, expansive and packed with fruit tannins this is coming together rather well, but as will all vintages of the '25 Anni' will age for a decade and more.
Montefalco Umbria Italy
One of the most impressive vintages of '25 Anni' we have tasted, and it is never easy tasting this wine young without being overwhelmed by its sheer power. The 2006 is spectacular for its concentration of fruit.
