For us this is a step up on the 2009, and particularly welcome for its complete dryness, so that the softly grapefruity tang and juiciness is both refreshing on its own and an easy food match.

2008 BLACK ESTATE Pinot Noir

A very fine Pinot with lovely tight structure not unlike one of Francois Lumpp's Premier Cru Givrys but with a hint of New World ripe fruit. Fermented using wild yeasts and left on the skins for almost a month prior to pressing and tranferring to barrel.

Deep colour, taut, dusty, berry fruit nose, a feel that is lush and creamy, kept in a neat balance buy a long, dry wild berry fruitiness which has just the right level of subtle astringency. Already supple enough to enjoy, this should develop nicely over a year or two.
