Domaine de la Douaix
Mark and Gilles Moustie are Belgians, wine and Burgundy fans. The family rented a gite for many years in the Hautes Côtes village of Arcenant, straight up the hill to the west of Nuits Saint Georges, and gently graduated from buying wines at domaines up and down the Côte to wanting to make the wine themselves. Eventually they bought some vines and a house with cellars, and set to. These three wines are all from vines they own, but they do make a little wine from bought-in fruit to supplement what is still a tiny domaine. Mark is Belgium-based, a management consultant, so it is his son Gilles who is hands-on on a daily basis.

Côte d'Or Burgundy France
A clos (walled vineyard) of old vines on a steep south-facing slope in Arcenant, above Nuits Saint Georges. Very dark, dense and mineral. Still a little tight on first opening, but there is so much here: real punch and aromatic complexity, with a long cherry-skin finish.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
From two parcels of vines in Corgoloin, south of Nuits. One has thirty-five year old vines, the others are over sixty years old. While this may not have the sweet juice of the 09, it is a lovely drink with satisfyingly dry tannins which compliment food so well.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Sixty to eighty year old vines in Corgoloin, in a lieu-dit called Les Chaillots. Real old vine density conbined with a robust Nuits Saint Georges fruit character.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Sixty to eighty year old vines in Corgoloin, in a lieu-dit called Les Chaillots. Real old vine density combined with a robust Nuits Saint Georges fruit character. Mineral and driven, with a deep crushed cherry and damson fruit.
