Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot
Yves Confuron sticks to the family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, picking very late. These are wines which can taste richly jammy when very young, with huge body and tannins fine enough to mislead one into believing they will not last - but the Premiers and Grand Crus are ten to fifteen year wines in a top vintage. One of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits, and the wines are in great demand, with the Grands Crus nearly always selling out from our first offers.

Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Taut and floral, delicate after the voluptuousness of the Gevrey, but gaining intensity from its tautness.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Sweet and flowing, really ripe, blackberry expression, with liquorice again. Lovely consistency on the palate.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Earthy with bigger tannins, good robust core, with dense savoury fruit.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Dense and quite tannic, this has real punch and follow-through - impressive as the tasting-opener.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Very sweet and flowing, as usual for the Nuits it is structured and intense but there is nothing scratchy or aggressive about it.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Rich, powerfully tannic, but the density of wine is there, a pure driven Pinot. Although long, it is still tight and closed for now.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Rich and inviting black fruit ripeness. Really lovely texture and togetherness - and such a force of fruit - linear and intense.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Tasted after the Vignes Rondes, the Suchots has neither quite the lushness of the Gevreys nor the unchained rawness of the beast of Nuits - but it builds on the palate and perhaps the combination of fruit intensity and power is more than the sum of the others' parts. Wiry intensity on the finish.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Rounder, warmer and even more generous on the nose that the Petite Chapelle. Very plums and blackberries, round cassis-like fruit, fresh and delicate with it. Very good tannins again, and very long.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Not that dark in colour, and quite advanced in aroma, this is a round and charming Charmes.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Real power and class, the fruit stays long a pure even on the finish, sailing unflustered though what is a fairly savage tannic structure. This will need keeping but the fruit will still be there.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Malo not finished in November, and the result is that only the sketchiest idea of what of is to come can be formed. Its sort of all here, but backward, astringent - and then comes togther on the finish with big chewy weight.
Côte d'Or Burgundy France
Half-bottles
Beautifully precise, ripe juicy and full. Thick texture with fine tannins.
