Les Terrasses d'Éole
This domaine is located in the heart of Provence, beneath Mount Ventoux, and takes its name from the God of wind, Éole, because the area is so exposed to severe 'Mistral' that blows through the Southern Rhone. Having always previously sold their grapes to the local co-operative, in 1998 Claude Saurel and his son Stéphane built a new vinification chai and embarked upon making their own wines. They own forty parcels of vines, planted on different soils - sand, stone, chalk and limestone - and make fascinating wines, both whites and reds.
