CHÂTEAU MARSAU

2006 L'Enclos de la Bernarderie Bergerac

Grapes Cab Franc
Colour Red
Origin France, South West
Sub-district Bergerac
ABV 13%

Château Marsau is in the Côtes de Francs, but also has a small (1.5ha) parcel which extends into the appellation of Bergerac, and this is planted entirely with Cabernet Franc. So here we have a very original wine, a 100% Cabernet Franc, light, bright and expressive, silky smooth on the palate with fresh red fruit flavour. The nose has the herbal, leafy mint character which is so typical of Franc. Black cherry and cassis give richness with bramble and bilberry giving freshness. The tannins are quite firm and show towards the back but the finish is sweeter fruited. 2013-2016 (February 2013) Rating: 88 L&S (Nov 2013)

Château Marsau

Château Marsau is a well-known property in the small Bordeaux sub-region of the Côtes de Francs, but part of the property extends across the Départmental border into Dourdogne and is, thus, in AC Bergerac. This portion is the "Enclos de Bernerderie" and is planted with Cabernet Franc.
