2006 IL BOSCO SYRAH Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro
2006 IL BOSCO SYRAH Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro
| Grapes: Syrah | Origin: Italy, Tuscany |
Lea & Sandeman review
At last Il Bosco has reached the level of quality that early vintages such as 1997 promised. A much tighter selection in the vineyards, with the aim of producing smaller quantities, has resulted in a truly spectacular Syrah of great class. Now presented in a Rhone style bottle, the wine certainly has more of the Northern Rhone characteristics than before, with gamey notes intermingled with the sweet blackcurrant and cherry fruit. Crunchy tannins, dry fruits, great texture and length all show promise for a wine that will develop along the lines of a great Hermitage.Other reviews and comments
Intense licorice, blackberries, minerals, sandalwood and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied, with superpolished and silky tannins that turn to butterscotch, toffee, berry and chocolate aftertaste, with just a hint of meat and spice. Tannic and powerful, yet balanced. Best after 2012.
