Lea & Sandeman review
One of the most impressive vintages of '25 Anni' we have tasted, and it is never easy tasting this wine young without being overwhelmed by its sheer power. The 2006 is spectacular for its concentration of fruit.Other reviews and comments
The 2006 Sagrantino di Montefalco 25 Anni completely saturates the palate with masses of dark fruit. Many of the dark, balsamic notes that are present in the Collepiano are found in the 25 Anni as well, but here the wine’s expansive, glorious fruit takes on another dimension of sheer richness and opulence. The Sagrantino tannins are present, but they are nearly buried under the wine’s intense fruit. Nearly. The big, massive finish suggests the wine is an infant, so patience is required. A blast of smoke, earthiness, tar and game adds the final exclamation point. This is a spectacular, head-spinning 25 Anni from Marco Caprai. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

Smoke, tobacco, ripe dark fruit, raisins. A blockbuster, with smoky oak, mixed berry fruit, acidity and harmoniuos tannin. Drink: 2020
Decanter Magazine
Another whopper from Caprai that is dense and serious. And needs time. Even now though, it's brimming with dark chocolate, dried fruits and balsamic notes. Tannins rule on the palate, as does the acidity, and together they will keep this wine at its creamy, savoury best for years to come.
