Firm and 'aërien', classy, silky fruit. Drive and elegance, much more about minerals than fruit, lifted, floral and delicate too. L&S (Dec 2007)

Good full medium red. Sexy aromas of black cherry, minerals, licorice and spices, along with the high-pitched minty nuance shown by the Chevrets. Tighter in its grain and more structured and serious than the Chevrets, but at the same time displaying more class and stronger minerality. Finishes with excellent subtle aromatic persistence and unusually fine tannins for a Cote de Beaune 2006. Rating: 92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2009)

Good full, deep red. Wild black fruits, licorice and mint on the nose. Tighter and less supple than the Chevrets, with strong mineral and spice character. Intensely flavored but very backward. Finishes pure, intense and long, with broad, fine tannins and complex lingering notes of leather, game and iron. This will need a good seven or eight years of cellaring. Rating: 90-92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Mar 2008)

The form feels more upright and direct with minerals and toastiness leading the wine. The tannins are focused and streamlined and the core is layered with forest fruits, spice and toast. Minerality returns to dominate the finish. Particularly good. From 2011.Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Jan 2008)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
