2007 BAROLO Vigneto Brunate Andrea Oberto
2007 BAROLO Vigneto Brunate Andrea Oberto
| Grapes: Nebbiolo | Origin: Italy, Piedmont |
Lea & Sandeman review
For me, the 'cru' Brunate is the greatest of Oberto's wines, and in a vintage such as this is almost the most perfect expression of a great Barolo. Also grown over sandy soil, but with a rocky base, the wine is intensely perfumed and exudes an elegance which is almost at odds with the power of this wine. It is such a beauty and in spite of its youth a real joy to drink.Other reviews and comments
The 2007 Barolo Vigneto Brunate is another stunner from Oberto. Freshly cut roses, violets, minerals, menthol and licorice are some of the notes that emerge in the glass, adding notable complexity and dimension to the beautifully delineated fruit. The Brunate possesses dazzling richness and kaleidoscopic precision, all in a dramatic, sweeping Barolo of the very highest level. The wine boasts fabulous inner perfume from start to finish, making it impossible to resist a second taste. Here the French oak seems better suited to the dark, muscular expression of Nebbiolo found in Brunate. This is a very hard wine to spit! Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027.
