Lea & Sandeman review
A new claret to our range which ticks all the boxes in terms of value, looks and immediate drinkability. Owned by the Thienpont family (also owners of Vieux Chateau Certan, one of Pomerol's best properties), Chateau Lauriol is one of three wines made at their Cotes de Francs property, Chateau Puygueraud, which dominates the whole appellation. Made predominantly from Merlot, together with quite a high proportion of Cabernet Franc and a touch of Malbec, Chateau Lauriol is seen to be the 'second' wine of the property. We loved the Saint Emilion character of this wine, together with the crispness and freshness of the Cabernet Franc which lifts the wine and makes it so very drinkable. A fabulous new addition to our Bordeaux range which we think will develop a following very quickly.
