2007 CHÂTEAU LES ORMES DE PEZ Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel Saint Estèphe

2007 CHÂTEAU LES ORMES DE PEZ Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel Saint Estèphe

Grapes: Origin: France, Bordeaux
Lea & Sandeman review
Lovely nose of spiced fruit, but the palate is even better than the nose - succulent sweetness to the crunchy fresh fruit, and no holes. Good acidity and lacy finesse and definition. Delicious and likely to be good value.   90/100

Other reviews and comments
Good berry, mineral and spice character on the nose and palate. Medium body, fine tannins and clean on the finish.   84-87/100
James Suckling, The Wine Spectator
Quite intense red, good small berry red fruits, quite tightly knit, but none of the greenness and hollowness of the year, shows depth and class. Drink 2012-17.   **** 16.5

A dark garnet colour. The nose has good fruit concentration, blackberry, violets and a touch of spice. Nice lift. The palate is full-bodied, grainy tannins, grippy with a leafy, slightly herbaceous core. But certainly harmonious, good depth and persistency with a firm grip towards the finish. Blackberry infused with tobacco and cedar. Good wine.   88-90/100

(a blend of 56% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot, 6% cab franc and 2% petit verdot) Ruby-red. Cassis, licorice and bitter chocolate aromas. A juicy, fairly dense midweight with good ripeness and balance for the year. Chunky, chewy, chocolatey St. Estephe, with a slightly dry finish. This chateau bought a parcel of petit verdot in time for the 2007 harvest, and technical director Jean-Rene Matignon told me it brought flesh and color to the blend.   86-88/100

Very light nose reminiscent of putty. Lively, not dense - a bit light and green. Lots of acidity on the finish. 2011-15   15.5
