Very aromatic. An immediate taste of strawberry bon-bons fills out to a broader spectrum of fruit, backed up by a firm structure. Lovely finish. Real personality.

Good bright, deep red. Very closed on the nose. Then suave and fine-grained but quite high-pitched in the mouth, conveying medicinal and mineral elements and very little obvious sweetness. Finishes with rather powerful tannins that make the wine hard to taste today despite its obviously strong underlying material.   89-92/100

(from a .72 ha parcel on the Vosne side near the top). A mild trace of reduction is present but it’s not enough to really detract from the otherwise reticent red pinot fruit, warm earth and plum aromas that introduce, rich, full and impressively concentrated medium weight plus flavors brimming with dry extract and volume and while the finish delivers excellent drive and length, the tannins are on the finer side for a young Clos de Vougeot. There is the classic youthful austerity as well but this should be more of a medium-term rather than long-term ager. 2015+   91-93/100
