2007 JANZEN BECKSTOFFER TO KALON CABERNET Janzen Estate
2007 JANZEN BECKSTOFFER TO KALON CABERNET Janzen Estate
| Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon | Origin: USA, California |
Lea & Sandeman review
One of Napa's best value premium wines, made in tiny quantities by Bacio Divino's owner, Claus Janzen.Other reviews and comments
Janzen’s other 2007s were still in barrel, but readers should keep an eye out for the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard. Offering abundant aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, and smoked herbs as well as admirable density, opulence, and richness, it has 20 years of drinkability ahead of it.
94-96/100

Not surprisingly, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon has an opaque purple color and a glorious nose of graphite, camphor, creme de cassis, fruitcake, and some subtle new oak. It is full-bodied, moderately tannic, but very rich, concentrated, and another convincing example from this terroir in Oakville. Bacio Divino’s proprietor, Claus Janzen, continues to turn out one of the best values in Napa. (December 2010)
