Lea & Sandeman review
Chacra's newest release is this beautifully crafted Merlot, named after the village of Mainqué where the Chacra vineyards are planted. These vines are planted alongside the 1955 Pinot Noir vineyard, and undergo exactly the same biodynamic care and attention. The wine is deep in colour, richly textured, with notes of sweet cherries, black pepper and a lovely soft finish. Very classy. Excellent value too.Other reviews and comments
First vintage of this old vines Merlot, from a vineyard which Chacra have been rehabilitating for several years. A little gamey, animal edge to the deep-set, bold black fruit. Lots of cassis and plum. The palate is juicy and dry, the wine has a lovely dusty earthiness that keeps it quite serious and savoury, with delightful freshness.

First vintage. Pure bright dark plum and damson fruit. Sweet but with a fresh cedary edge and lovely dry length. Really classy but pricey.
