Another lovely wine from this great property in the Ribera del Duero. Rather more full bodied and spicy than the previous vintage this is a fabulous crowd pleaser without the excessive power of many wines from the region. L&S (Feb 2012)

The 2007 Montecastro exhibits more spice and a bit more density. Savory, forward, and incipiently complex, it can be approached now but will reward another 2-3 years of cellaring. The pleasure-bent effort will be at its best from 2013 to 2022. Rating: 91 Jay Miller, www.RobertParker.com (Jan 2012)
Bodegas y Vinedos Montecastro
Montecastro is a new estate in Ribera del Duero founded in 2002. The owners have gone to great lengths to do everything right and it shows in the wine. They own five separate vineyard parcels in the heart of the region, with vines ranging from 6 to 100 years of age. Under the supervision of a young French trained oenologist, Jean Francois Hebrard, the wine has already reached some international acclaim, and they are well on the way to making it one of Spain's top wines.
