2007 PERENZO Rosso della Maremma Fattoria di Magliano
| Grapes: Syrah | Origin: Italy, Tuscany |
Lea & Sandeman review
This small production Syrah is made from low yielding vines and aged eighteen months in finely grained French oak. Full of colour, scented with sweet spices, pepper and hints of licorice, this is tight and powerfully structured. While quite closed on the palate at first, this is beautifully structured with mineral and polished tannins. A first class Syrah by anybody's standards. GOLD MEDALLIST in the 'Syrha du Monde'.Other reviews and comments
Black licorice, mineral and blueberry on the nose. Full-bodied, with silky and refined tannins. Plenty of fruit here, yet reserved and very pretty. Syrah. Best after 2010. 500 cases made.

The Wine Spectator
100% syrah; 18 months in 225-liter barriques; 14.5% alcohol) Dark ruby. Pure aromas of violet, blackberry and dark plum. Smooth, dense and focused on entry, with lively flavors of ripe black fruits and hints of aromatic herbs and minerals. Finishes smooth and long, with an austere quality. I tried this refined, fruity syrah a second time slightly chilled, and it was just fine.
