The power of a wine from a Grand Cru site is there on the nose lots of rich flavours. There are layers of fruit on the palate all very black fruit driven but there is freshness more of a bilberry and black cherry character that balances and gives the finish an elegant twist. 2014-22 Rating: 95 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk (Dec 2013)

Good bright red. Liqueur-like cherry along with more vibrant red raspberry and rose petal on the nose. In a distinctly suave, feminine style, with a sweet, almost candied fruit character and an enticing sugar/acid balance. Finishes round and long, with lovely lingering floral perfume. Despite the size of their vineyard holding, not all Drouhin's wines come from their own domaine, but most of the other wines do come from long-term contracts, such as exists with the Marquis de Laguiche wines. In all but name these wines are 'Domaine' wines, and the vineyards are cared for and the wines vinified with exactly the same care.
