More closed on the nose than the village Puligny, it seems to smell of rock crystal. An extraordinary driven mineral purity which makes one think of a long future. Possibly the most mineral vintage of this wine I have ever tried, and yet it is still inviting, succulent. L&S (Dec 2009)

The 2008 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère 1er Cru put in a seriously good performance. It is limpid and silvery in hue, and sure, there remains a patina of oak that slightly obscures the delineation, but it meliorates in the glass and gorgeous oyster shell and flinty scents emerge. The palate is commendably fresh and focused on the entry and beautifully balanced. The finish perhaps comes across as a little predictable, though if you are familiar with Boillot's style, then that is not necessarily a negative point. Tasted at the Vinous off-line dinner at La Trompette. Drinking range: 2020 - 2030 Rating: 92 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Apr 2020)

Rather inexpressive on the nose, hinting at soft citrus fruits. Then powerfully minerally in the mouth in spite of a rather silky texture, with strong acidity contributing to the impression of energy. Still youthfully compact, and best today on the very dry, very long finish, where the wine's superb density calls for extended aging. The acidity here, according to Boillot, is 5.85 grams per liter-certainly one of the higher numbers I heard in Burgundy this spring. Rating: 93(+?) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Sept 2010)

This is well defined on the nose, granite, kiwi, Granny Smith with just a hint of white tipped asparagus. The palate is well balanced, great minerality and acidity, with a underlying biscuit element that comes through on the persistent finish. Excellent. 2011-2018. Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
