2008 ALCONTE Crianza Bodegas y Vinedos Montecastro

2008 ALCONTE Crianza Bodegas y Vinedos Montecastro
| Grapes: Tinto Fino | Origin: Spain, Ribera del Duero |
Lea & Sandeman review
Tinto Fino (100%) ripe, juicy and very elegant, complementing rather well the more powerfully structured Montecastro. Coming from six different low yielding vineyards (30 hl/ha), ranging in age from 6 to 100 years old, fermentation takes place in cement tanks, followed by eleven months in French (70%) and American (30%) oak, half of which are new, half second year. This second vintage is more finely textured, with better definition and structure, and at 13.5% makes a very refreshing change to the monster alcohol levels of many Ribera del Dueros.Other reviews and comments
Bodegas y Viñedos Montecastro's purple-colored 2008 Alconte is 100% Tempranillo. Smoke, mineral, licorice, and black fruit aromas inform the nose of this forward, sweetly-fruited, nicely priced offering. It can be approached now but will provide enjoyment for another 6-8 years.
90/100
