2008 BÂTARD MONTRACHET Grand Cru Jean-Marc Boillot
2008 BÂTARD MONTRACHET Grand Cru Jean-Marc Boillot
| Grapes: Chardonnay | Origin: France, Burgundy |
Lea & Sandeman review
Big, smoky, a bit blunt and closed, but amazingly mineral for a Bâtard, more like a denser version of the Combettes. Lots going on, hint of kiwi fruit! Rich and weighty. This comes from the highest part of Bâtard which they say gives the most elegant wines.Other reviews and comments
Very rich aromas of pineapple, nut oil and smoky oak; the most exotic of these 2008s and the highest in alcohol at 13.5%. Rich, powerful and generous, combining strong acidity and an impression of sweetness and viscosity of fruit. Very smooth, silky wine with a long finish that throws off hints of very ripe stone fruits, nut oils and brown spices.

Tasted three times in London. This has a well-defined, stony, flinty nose with good lift. Green apple, pear skin and a touch of nettle and kiwi fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, powerful with fresh vibrant green fruit with apple, lime, apricot, a touch of wild honey and peach towards the long, sensuous finish. This is an outstanding Bâtard from Jean-Marc Boillot.
