2008 BLACK ESTATE Pinot Noir
2008 BLACK ESTATE Pinot Noir
| Grapes: Pinot Noir | Origin: New Zealand, South Island |
Lea & Sandeman review
A very fine Pinot with lovely tight structure not unlike one of Francois Lumpp's Premier Cru Givrys but with a hint of New World ripe fruit. Fermented using wild yeasts and left on the skins for almost a month prior to pressing and tranferring to barrel.Other reviews and comments
Richly textured wine with impressive flavor depth. Layers of dark fruits with some spice and nutty oak. A very classy Pinot Noir - seamless and long.

New Zealand's serious pinot noir class is ubiquitous with South Island's Canterbury one of the most impressive new spots, judging by the fine, bright, cherry-spicy 2009 Waipara Black Estate Pinot Noir.
