2008 CORTONA SYRAH Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro
2008 CORTONA SYRAH Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro
| Grapes: Syrah | Origin: Italy, Tuscany |
Lea & Sandeman review
Noted by Antonio Galloni as a 'ridiculously good wine for the money' this is a fabulously good Syrah, immediately approachable and packed with fruit and bright tannins.Other reviews and comments
Plenty of violets and leathery fruit to recommend this wine, albeit not quite as intense as some of its counterparts at the same tasting. Oodles of tannin with leathery, developed characters also showing through, but the tannin is the main player here.

The 2008 Cortona Syrah is a ridiculously good wine for the money. Rich dark fruit, violets, leather, licorice and spices swirl around in the glass with a captivating personality. The tannins could use a touch more polish and I suppose this could be more varietally expressive, but the absolute quality of what is in the glass is beyond reproach. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.
D’Alessandro, one of the historic estates in Tuscany, continues to make important strides under the leadership of consultant Luca Currado.
