Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Vinified separately, 80% in a combination of French and American new oak barriques and the remainder unoaked. Very fine, with crisp fresh fruit, lovely texture and a long palate. Top notch. L&S (Oct 2011)

A wine that bears testimony to the unique terroir of the vineyards; it reflects both the quality and diversity of the property as a whole. It was another challenge for us; to construct a six-varietal blend, a first for South Africa at the time of release of the maiden 2003 vintage. The cultivars; Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, are micro-vinified and then blended after 15 months barrel maturation.Winemaker's notes (Oct 2011)

In 1999, Jean Engelbrecht and the South African golfer Ernie Els cemented a long-standing friendship by establishing Engelbrecht Els Vineyards, and in December 2004 opened their dream cellar on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain in Stellenbosch. The winemaker since the very beginning has been the very talented Louis Strydom.
