Lea & Sandeman review
From a white limestone soil, so hard it requires three tractors to work the soil. Anne describes that is 'la solaire' - the sunny one, dominated by Syrah, lovely fruit nose, beautiful balance, 60% new and one-year-old barrels, but this barely shows. Scented with cedar and sandalwood, and packed with wild black fruits, and very long.Other reviews and comments
"Expression de Calcaire". Three cépages which complement each other to give us this wonderful cuvée. On this great terroir consisting of limestone and clay soils, facing south, the white blinding limestone of Agel gave us some wines full of great energy. These fine wines, which benefit from careful maturing in barrels, represent a cuvée superbly silky, combined with concentration and a mineral persistence full of finesse. It is the magical combination of a burning sun and cool soil, from where, deep within, the wine draws the water it needs. Early and steady maturity, lovely acidity... A great terroir with 1.30 Ha of 25 year old Syrahs, 0.80 Ha of 104 year old Carignans, 0.50 Ha of 42 year old Carignans and 1.30 Ha of 25 year old Syrahs.
