2008 LEA & SANDEMAN Bordeaux

2008 LEA & SANDEMAN Bordeaux

Grapes: Merlot  Origin: France, Bordeaux
Lea & Sandeman review
Another fabulous vintage of our now well known and much loved Lea & Sandeman Bordeaux, which offers such great value. This is not a generic Bordeaux blend, but from a single property bought by two young 'negociants' we have worked with for some years. Deep fruit, bright tannins and fresh acidity.

Other reviews and comments
Basic Bordeaux doesn't get in this guide very often, [Oz Clarke's 250 Best Wines] but there's basic Bordeaux - and there's Lea & Sandeman's basic Bordeaux. These guys have gone to a very good producer in the classy area of Fronsac and blended up a wine that is so ripe it's almost rich. This has the leafiness and furry tannic grip of proper Bordeaux, yet it has the ripe red plums, blackcurrants, the dryness of summer country earth, and the promise of scent if you open the bottle an hour or two early, which would make me think it's a very attractive Fronsac at about half its normal price.

Mixed Cases
a little drop of CLARET

How terribly decent - a box of good, classic, drinkable, everyday claret at a price that won't break the bank. Of course, it includes the ever reliable LEA & SANDEMAN Bordeaux, but also a selection of other clarets that should tickle your tastebuds. Chin chin.

The LEA & SANDEMAN selection

Some wines we like so much, we put our name on them! There's our ever popular LEA & SANDEMAN Bordeaux and, now, it is joined by the luxurious and refreshing LEA & SANDEMAN White Burgundy. A brace of BENEDICK Champagnes completes the selection with celebratory style. Treat yourself and/or send a box to a friend and introduce them to the wonderful world of LEA & SANDEMAN.

24 HALF BOTTLES

At LEA & SANDEMAN we are proud of our range of half bottles- here's a cracking selection for all those occasions when a whole bottle is just a tad too much. Also makes a great present.

"65% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. This seems to have been an excellent vintage for Montaiguillon, despite being a technically difficult to get to this point. It has good depth and fruit density as ever, but also a really good definition and length."
