2008 LIRAC Rouge Cuvée de la Reine des Bois Domaine de la Mordorée

2008 LIRAC Rouge Cuvée de la Reine des Bois Domaine de la Mordorée

Grapes: Grenache  Syrah  Mourvèdre  Origin: France, Rhône
Lea & Sandeman review
An equal blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre from forty year old vines, aged in a combination of oak barrels, wooden tuns and stainless steel this is Christophe Delorme's super cuvée of Lirac which is vastly superior to any other in the appellation. Red/black in colour with a massive fruit structure and rich tannins, nevertheless beautifully balanced and with a great future.

Other reviews and comments
The 2008 Lirac Cuvee de la Reine des Bois is a very strong effort in this challenging vintage. Composed of equal parts Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah (from 40-year-old vines), it exhibits surprising density for the vintage along with abundant red and black fruit, licorice, truffle and loamy soil notes. Full-bodied with admirable fruit purity and a long, heady finish, it is best drunk over the next 3-4 years.   89/100
