2008 MONTEFALCO Rosso Arnaldo-Caprai

2008 MONTEFALCO Rosso Arnaldo-Caprai
| Grapes: Merlot Sangiovese Sagrantino | Origin: Italy, Umbria |
Lea & Sandeman review
A blend of Sangiovese with around 20% Sagrantino, partly aged in third year barriques and about 60% in large Slovenian oak casks. Bright and deep ruby red with cherry and violet on the nose, it is rich and velvety with crisp, tight tannins giving great length.Other reviews and comments
If you want to taste the tamest of Caprai’s reds then go for 2008 Montefalco Rosso Caprai (£13.95, down to £12.95 for a case) - here the brutish Sagrantino is ameliorated with a massive slug of Sangiovese and it works to soothe the palate so as not to frighten your taste buds too much!

Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Merlot. Very firm and dense and black! 2013-2017

...the 2008 was an immediate hit out of the bottle. The blend of mostly Sangiovese and a bit of Sagrantino was stunning, with amazingly lively flavors of cherries and berries, plums and cassis. It was mouthfilling and generous in fruit, soft in tannins as it rolled gently off the tongue.
