Qiite difficult to taste in November 2010, with an inner hardness in the structure. Furry tannins and tantalising fruit, together with touches of fruit in alcohol, or fruit eaux de vie. Spirit of wine. Very long, will be superb.

More reserved, showing some faint aroma. It batons down, muscular, compact, dense; a little dry? Big broad palate. This is much more four square. More monumental structure. Fine. From 2018

Medium ruby. Brooding aromas of crushed cassis, black cherry, strawberry, bitter chocolate, mint and verbena. Rich-verging-on-unctuous but not roasted, with mineral and violet notes energizing the slightly animal mid-palate. This is really thick with material. Finishes with broad, suave tannins and a late whiff of clove.

Relatively strong reduction renders the nose impossible to fairly evaluate though the serious, precise and powerful broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration and outstanding length on the austere and hugely long finish. At present, this doesn’t quite have the depth of the other grands crus though it may very well develop it given enough time in the cellar. 2024+

Heady, lively with great energy. Round nose that seems at ease with itself. Very fresh palate. Sweet morello cherry fruit. Real excitement and lots of fruit. Charming, though perhaps not absolutely obviously grand cru quality but definitely more weight in mid palate than the premiers crus. Well done! Sinewy.

The Clos de Vougeot has a very fragrant, well defined bouquet with crushed strawberry and Morello cherry. The palate is supple tannins, good weight in the mouth, although it is just missing the definition and complexity on the finish of the best 2009 Clos de Vougeot. Fine.

Rich powerful cherry nose. Dense and concentrated, evidently youthful, but has integrated tannins, plenty of spice and vigour, and good acidity and length. Drink 2014- 2025.

The fruit on the nose is sweet and rich yet there are red fruits backing the black refreshing, lightening and balancing the sweetness. Ripe tannins allow the richness to give suppleness in the middle and to flesh out the back palate.

Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot: Full Wine List and Profile
Vignerons since the seventeenth century, the Confuron family even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them - Pinot Confuron. The domaine has several Grands Crus vineyards as well as the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Suchots, making it one of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron follows his family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, giving an extra scent on the nose due to the stems of the grapes remaining intact, and picking very late. One of the strengths of Confuron Cotetidot wines is their ability to age and develop, due to the low yields and old vines that are used, causing them to be more approachable in the medium to long term.
