Lea & Sandeman review
This catchily named wine (after South Africa's unique spicy relish) is a very well made Rhone style blend with lovely fruit and well integrated oak. Serious value too.Other reviews and comments
A blend of 37% Syrah, 22% Mourvedre, 18% Carignan, 10% Petite Sirah, 10% Grenache and 4% Tannat raised in 25% new oak, the 2009 Chakalaka has a fresh bouquet with vibrant dark berried fruits, wild hedgerow and a touch of blueberry. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very good acidity and a vivacious finish of vibrant red fruits that beg another sip. For $20.00 this is great value.

A Rhone blend boasting attrctive dark berries and cherries on the nose followed by ripe and forward fruit on the palate. The alcohol is tempered by lively acidity and refined tannins. Stylish va-va-voom.

"What used to be called 'Prestige', this is the Chateau's own production. 90% Malbec and 10% Tannat aged in a combination of first, second and third year oak. Sensational wine this, full bodied, richly tannic, but in a very attractive and drinkable fashion, and immensely satisfying. Very real in every way."

"Selected from a combination of the younger Cabernet (Sauvignon and Franc) and Merlot vines and wines destined for but selected out of the flagship Rubicon blend. The Cabernet Franc is pronounced on the nose, with green leaf and cloves, but the palate is full of juicy fruit and a crisp acidity. "
