80 year old vines just under Clos de Bèze. Very dark - all black cherry and sweet fruit. Opulent. Some of the soft charm of the Charmes, some of the more rugged character of the Mazis. Griotte cherries. Supple but impressively powerful, and a structured, even tannic finish. L&S (Nov 2010)

The fruit on the nose is rich and ripe more black than red fruit in influence. The palate starts quite light but fruit sweetness gives flesh in the middle and enriches the finish. 2013-20 Rating: 91 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk (Dec 2013)

The 2009 Chapelle-Chambertin is beautifully layered with sweet raspberries, flowers, spices and licorice. This is a decidedly rich, racy Chapelle, yet at the same time there is an element of nervous energy that balances some of the wine's more overt tendencies. Today my sense is that the Chapelle is starting to close down. A refined long finish is the last clue as to what awaits once the wine settles down in bottle. 2019-2034 Rating: 94 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2013)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
