2009 GLADSTONE VINEYARD Pinot Noir

2009 GLADSTONE VINEYARD Pinot Noir

Grapes: Pinot Noir  Origin: New Zealand, North Island
Lea & Sandeman review
A slight step back in time with this vintage after the impressive ripeness of the 2008, this is still in the roundly opulent style of Gladstone but in its freshness and precision harks back to the 2006 and 2007. Lovely pure juicy aromatics and a sweet purity of fruit on the long palate too.

Other reviews and comments
If you are looking for a New Zealand Pinot Noir that is more serious than the norm but is not encumbered by too serious a price tag, check out Gladstone Pinot Noir 2009. Wairarapa, like Martinborough, is in the well-favoured gastronomic hinterland of Wellington in the south east of the North Island and Gladstone has always impressed me. The wines have real depth of flavour, no jamminess, the structure to develop for another few years and some attractive liquorice and spice. Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com
Pale ruby. Some real depth and interest to this wine – liquorice and spice and real structure. Really rather good value in a Burgundian context. Bursting with ambition! GV. 2011 - 2015. 16.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com

"A surprisingly muscular Pinot - good clear aromatics, it hangs togther on minerals and drive on the length. Tastes real, as though you can get a sense of the organic principles by which Jara works."

"This almost verges on being the fruit bomb style of Pinot, but there is enough crisp acidity to the ripe fruit to create a long, lingering and sappy finish. In fact it is delicious. "
