2009 HAUTES CÔTES DE NUITS Clos des Fervelots Domaine de la Douaix
| Grapes: Pinot Noir | Origin: France, Burgundy |
Lea & Sandeman review
A clos (walled vineyard) of old vines on a steep south-facing slope in Arcenant, above Nuits Saint Georges. Very dark, dense and mineral. Still a little tight on first opening, but there is so much here: real punch and aromatic complexity, with a long cherry-skin finish.Other reviews and comments

DOMAINE de la DOUAIX - an exciting Burgundy discovery
Charles has unearthed an absolute gem from the Nuits St Georges hinterland. A wonderful estate run by Belgian Burgundy enthusiasts - father and son, Mark and Gilles Moustie - who went from family holidays spent among the vines to tending some vines of their own. Whenever we've shown these wines just lately they have met with excited praise. This case contains a trio of the awesome 2009's that drew us to the estate in the first place, along with a slightly more measured 2008 for contrast.

"The 2010 Barda Pinot Noir is simply fabulous, and as Piero Incisa states, not only the best wine he has made to date, but also exactly where he wants it to be in terms of style and quality. This is more elegant, and paler than in previous vintages yet with a fresh intensity that gives great length. Its drinkability is even more enhanced by the significant drop in alcohol to only 12%. Perfect with Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey!"
