2009 HERMITAGE Domaine Gilles Robin

2009 HERMITAGE Domaine Gilles Robin

Grapes: Syrah  Origin: France, Rhône
Lea & Sandeman review
First vintage of the new cuvée of Hermitage from Gilles Robin. Deep in colour and packed with bright fruit. Sweet dense fruit and subtle fresh leathery notes abound and a crisp acidity keeps the wine from being at all heavy, in fact it is remarkably light on its feet for a wine with such concentration and length. Long future ahead.

Other reviews and comments
Opaque ruby. Aromas of black and blue fruits, candied violet, espresso and star anise, complemented by a smoky overtone. Broad, palate-staining dark fruit flavors show impressive intensity and pick up exotic floral and fruitcake qualities with air. A sneaky mineral note adds lift and cut to the long, sappy, smoke-accented finish. This hefty, ageworthy wine really shouldn't be opened for a while.   92
