Other reviews and comments
(from vines planted in 1972 and raised in ~60% new oak). A reluctant nose requires aggressive swirling to coax the clearly ripe, serious and earth-dominated red and blue pinot fruit aromas from the glass. The dense, intense and concentrated middle weight flavors are shaped and supported by very firm but ripe tannins, all wrapped in a mouth coating, balanced and moderately austere finish that delivers excellent length. This is clearly built to age and will require up to a decade to be at its best. 2017+

Côte Chalonnaise Burgundy France
"Taut and fresh, while at the same time broad-shouldered, with cherry and rich undergrowth and humus complexity. It has a grown-upness about it, like a powerful Volnay. Francois is very excited about this vineyard, calling it a 'tres grand terroir'."
