PENFOLDS
2009 Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz
| Colour | Red |
| Origin | Australia, South Australia |
| ABV | 13% |
Another of Penfold's muliti-vineyard blends this is often cited as the 'poor man's Grange'. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, from the cooler coastal vineyards, with 49% Shiraz from the warmer sites including Barossa, this is aged in a combination of new and used French and American oak casks. Intensely mint and rich on the nose, the palate follows through with sweet chewy fruit, with spices and herbs and tremendous length. (Tasting older vintages of 1986, 1990 and 1996 alongside, it is evident that this wine ages remarkably well). L&S (Mar 2012)
