2009 SAINT JOSEPH Clos de la Cuminaille Domaine Pierre Gaillard

2009 SAINT JOSEPH Clos de la Cuminaille Domaine Pierre Gaillard

Grapes: Syrah  Origin: France, Rhône
Lea & Sandeman review
Planted in 1981 the east facing Clos de Cuminaille (3ha) is on granitic, fast draining soil, and gives Syrah of great freshness as well as ageing potential. Aged for eighteen months in 'barriques', of which 40% new.

Other reviews and comments
Like Gaillard’s other 2009’s, this Clos du Cuminaille is broody and a little introverted on the nose with dark cherry, bay leaf, white fennel and leather on the nose. The palate is vibrant on the entry with lively peppery red fruit, slightly chalky in texture with good attack and acidic cut on the finish. This is a very fine Saint Joseph. Tasted February 2011.   91/100
