Lea & Sandeman review
A cuvée of old vines which has much in common with top Côte Rôtie. Violets on the nose, black peppper, and an ample fruit behind, very fine and very mouthfilling and satisfying at the same time. Fruit clings to the palate. Just a gorgeous example of a sometimes rather hit-and-miss appellation.Other reviews and comments
Granite grown and spends two years in demi-muids. Unusually dark purplish. Easy to love, in fact a smell of it is enough to transport me to a Parisian brasserie. Very fresh and dense and well put together. No hint of specious mucking about. Denser than the average St-Joseph but with lots of interest. 10 generations have worked this land, and this cuvée was born in 1989 when Stéphane's father became a Papy. Super clean. You could start this next year but it's denser than in most vintages.
