Lea & Sandeman review
When I tasted this had not been finally assembled - there's a cuve of old vines which give it its finesse. This cuvée alone was powerful, with a lovely depth and length, and a sweet, very slightly feral middle. Very vinous, long and 'massif'.Other reviews and comments
This is has depth of dark fruit and is meaty and dense with notes of choclate, wild berry and spices. The tannic structure is compact and there is some grip. A structural Volnay, packed and tight: It has coiled vigour and a savoury, sappy long finish. Fine+. From 2017

An extremely ripe yet not surmature nose of menthol, plus liqueur and cassis aromas lead to very rich, indeed even opulent medium-bodied flavors that exude an abundance of palate coating dry extract on the velvety, powerful and coffee-infused finish of dramatic persistence. This is not an especially elegant version of the appellation nor does it have the intense minerality of the best examples yet it is compelling in its own right. 2021+

The Santenots is well defined on the nose with fresh strawberry, cranberry and some gravel aromas. The palate is well defined with taut tannins, more linear than the Caillerets with fine freshness and poise on the crisp finish. It just needs a little more length.
