Very deep crimson. Very raw, almost rhubarby nose. Sweet fruit. Grainy texture. Just a tad unsubtle.

Keep a look out for this name. Owned by a Belgian Moustie family whose annual vacations in Burgundy led to them taking the next step as winemakers, their 2010s have the panache of a winemaker with 30 years under his belt instead of three. The Terres Nobles has rounded ripe cranberry, strawberry and citrus lemon on the lively, vivacious bouquet. The palate is very smooth with fine, quite firm tannins married with great cohesion and beautifully integrated oak. Very caressing in the mouth with fine persistency on the tense finish. Outstanding with or without the price that will put a smile on your face.

Mark and Gilles Moustie are Belgians, wine and Burgundy fans. The family rented a gite for many years in the Hautes Côtes village of Arcenant, straight up the hill to the west of Nuits Saint Georges, and gently graduated from buying wines at domaines up and down the Côte to wanting to make the wine themselves. Eventually they bought some vines and a house with cellars, and set to. These three wines are all from vines they own, but they do make a little wine from bought-in fruit to supplement what is still a tiny domaine. Mark is Belgium-based, a management consultant, so it is his son Gilles who is hands-on on a daily basis.
