CHIANTI CLASSICO

2010 Poggio Bonelli

Grapes Sangiovese
Colour Red
Origin Italy, Tuscany
Sub-district Chianti Classico
ABV 14%

We tasted this with great pleasure in Verona last year. Following the firm, dryer style of the 2009 you are hit here with much more supple plummy fruit and a more jolly style of Chianti. This has great purity and drive but with lots of lovely glossy, dark fruit. As you would hope there is a lick of acidity on the finish keeping this a little brighter and perky - great Chianti from the maestro Carlo Ferrini. L&S (Nov 2013)

Poggio Bonelli

A relatively large estate by Chianti standards, covering over 800 hectares of which 83 are under vine, located right in the heart of the classico district. Part of an investment portfolio the estate is run with little expense spared in the pursuit of making a truly representative wine of the region. This investment extends to the employment of Carlo Ferrini as oenologist, whose rather more deft touch these days, ensures that the true character of the region and the grape speaks through the wine.
