Grenache Blanc, Ugni and Viognier. Intriguing bright white with pinky hues, ripe, joyously fruity and dry, frankly rather startling value, its Romanesque name implies something more serious than this is, but what a lovely drink.

Made by the Vignerons du Sommièrois co-op near Nîmes, in the baking eastern Languedoc, this is an unusually successful blend of grenache blanc, ugni blanc and viognier. Dry, fruity and with a floral lift from the viognier, this is just about the perfect affordable summer white. August 2011.
