Sweet on the attack. A ball of round fruit. Succulent, meaty too and savoury. Hugely full and mouthfilling, but too stern to be 'sexy'. Yet gourmand, gluttonous, gorgeous. Again immensely long. L&S (Dec 2012)

A gorgeously spicy and beautifully layered nose offers up notably ripe aromas of violets, plum, cassis and warm earth. There is impressive volume to the full-bodied and opulently rich flavors that are blessed with an abundance of mouth coating sap that imparts a velvety mouth feel and pushes the very firm tannic spine to the background on the strikingly long and suave finish where a subtle touch of minerality surfaces. This is also a markedly ripe wine for the vintage and it should both repay extended cellaring but drink well young too. Drinking range: 2023 - Rating: 93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2014)

Full ruby-red. Discreet spicy aromas of blackberry, licorice and cocoa powder, with hints of minerals and peony. Extremely intense but very backward, showing an almost youthfully bitter quality to the black fruit, licorice and mint flavors. Most impressive today on the very long finish, which features substantial dusty tannins and conveys an impression of tightly coiled energy. This wine may well need a decade of bottle aging. Rating: 93-96 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Feb 2013)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
